ABOUT RAEF

The Rijksakademie Artists' Endowment Fund (RAEF) is a fund initiated by artists connected to the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten: former residents, (former) advisors and winners of the Prix de Rome. Present and future generations of talented artists working at the Rijksakademie will benefit from the fruits of the Endowment Fund. The revenues of RAEF will directly cover research and production costs of the resident-artists at the Rijksakademie.

MISSION

RAEF aims to support the upcoming generation of Rijksakademie resident-artists. RAEF is an innovative platform where artists, the Rijksakademie and the public come together. Not only for acquiring Contemporary Art but also to showcase a rich palette of talented artists from all over the world.

HISTORY

In 2007 Jean-Marc Bustamante and Matt Mullican – (former) advisors – together with a group of Rijksakademie artists, came up with the idea for an artists' fund. Their aspiration was to create a firm foundation so artists could gain a more prominent position within the Rijksakademie as the third pillar, together with the current support of patronage, corporate sponsors and the State.

RAEF AUCTION

To launch RAEF a benefit auction will take place on Tuesday the 1st of June 2010 at Sotheby's, Amsterdam. The auction will generate the start capital for the artists' fund and will be the kick-off for the following RAEF activities in the future.

RAEF FOR ARTISTS

As an artist connected to the Rijksakademie you can support the Endowment by donating a work of art. RAEF is a permanent fund and donating work is always possible.
